The development of optical fiber patch cable

Fiber optic cable has not been widely adopted for local area networks, however, because of its high cost of insallation.Networds that need extremely fast transmission rates, transminssions over long distances,or have had problems with elecriacal inteeference in the past ofen use fiber-optic cabling.

Fiber-optic cable is referred as either single-modd or multimode fiber. The term mode refers to the bundles of light that enter the fiber-optic cable.Single-mode fiber-optic cable uses only a single mode of light to propagate through the fiber cable, where multimode fiber allows multiple modes of light to propagatc. In multimode fiber-optic cable, the light bounces off the cable walls as it travels throuh the cable, which causes the singal to weaken more quickly.

Multimode fiber-optic is most ofen used as horizntal cable ,It permists multiple modes of light to propagate through the cable, which shotens cable dinstances and delibera less available bandwidth devices that use multimode fiber optic cable typically use light-emitting diodes to genarte the light that travels through that cable, however, highter bandwidth network devices such as gigabit eheemet are now usin lasers with mulitmode fiber-optic cable. The LC-LC Fiber Cable are used for non-permanent connections between patch panels, transmission equipment, etc. Pre-assembled cables allow for the implementation of complete "plug and play" solutions. When such a solution is adopted with accurate dimensioning and appropriate cable routing, it is possible to install even large cabling systems rapidly.

Single-mode fiber can be used for short distances, but due to its greater cost it is almost exclusively used for much longer distanc links in combination with LWL,ELWL or WDM solutions.Generally speaking, these solutions are designed for SMF cables with media designed for MMF can cause problems,SMF cables uses a much smaller diameter fibercord insinde the cladding:9/125um, They are usualy coloerd yellows, but like MMF cables they canbe ordered in other colors.Single mode optical fiber cable is commoly used as backbonecabling,it is also usually the cable type used in phone systems,Light travels through Fiber Optic Cords using only a single mode, meaning it travels straiht down he fiber and does not bounce off the cable walls .Because only a single mode of light travels throuht the cable, single mode fiber optical Cord support highter bandwidth and longer distances than mulitmode fiber optc cable.Devices that use single-mode fiber-fiber cable typically use laser to generate the light that travels through the cable. The Single Mode SC connector allows for quick and easy insertion via a snap-in mechanism and features a pre-radiused ceramic ferrule that minimizes back reflections.

ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B recognizes62.5/125 micron.50/125 micron, and 8.3/125 micron single-mode optical fiber cables.ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B states that the maximum backbone distance using single-mode fiber-optic cable is 3000 meters, and the maximum backbone distance using multimode fiber is 2,000 meters.
