Cisco X2-10GB-SR
TheX2-10GB-SRis a Class 1 laser product, which is designed for 300m Transmission with a vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL). X2-10GB-SR, replacement for Cisco 10GBase-SR SC 300M, is a hot pluggable in the Z-direction module that is usable in typical router line card applications, Storage, IP network and LAN and compliant to X2 MSA. It fully complies with the multi-sourcing agreement (MSA) which enables it to work in all MSA compliant platforms. 10GBase-SR is the original multimode optics specification, and is still by far the most commonly used. As it uses a single, low cost solid state laser assembly, it is also the least expensive of the optical modules available for a 10GbE platform.

The Cisco 10GBASE-SR Module supports a link length of 26m on standard FDDI grade MMF. Using 2000 MHz*km MMF (OM3), up to 300m link lengths are possible. Using 4700 MHz*km MMF (OM4), up to 400m link lengths are possible. X2-10GB-SR is high performance, cost effective module supporting 300M transmission distance, also, the X2-10GB-SR is a fully integrated 10.3Gbit/s optical transceiver module that consists of a 10.3Gbit/s optical transmitter and receiver, XAUI interface, Mux and Demux with clock and data recovery(CDR). This X2-10GB-SR version of X2 transceiver line uses an 850nm Vcsel Laser Diode to achieve 300m over 50/125 multi-mode fiber as 10GBASE-SR of the IEEE 802.3ae.

Cisco X2 10GB SR transceiver is a multimode products used for 10G networks, it works with 850nm via multimode fiber. Note: For optical X2 modules, only connections with patch cords with PC or UPC connectors are supported. Patch cords with APC connectors are not supported. All cables and cable assemblies used must be compliant with the standards specified in the standards section. The X2-10GB-SR must be operatred within the specified temperature and voltage limits. The optical ports of the module shall be terminated with an optical connector or with a dust plug.
